Learning Beyond the Classroom: A Visit to Agrawal Farms

Recently, on Sunday, 15th February 2026, a group of pupils from Forms 1–4, along with a few members of staff, travelled across Bhopal to a scenic, completely organic farm in Bhouri Jodh Village called Agrawal Farms, located just around the corner from the Shambhala Resort. This farm wasn’t only a place to visit — it was an unforgettable experience filled with so many interactive activities. During this trip, we got the opportunity to pick the most sweet, most delicious strawberries straight from their source and eat as many as we could possibly fit in our mouths.

We were able to ride tractors and bullock carts, learn about the various species of plants and animals, try a zipline, and feed and play with adorable animals such as cows, goats, chickens, geese, ducks, and rabbits. We also learned about the benefits of cow dung and how bio-energy and natural fertiliser are made from it and its benefits in farming. We even got to try traditional pottery, which we could take home with us.

When lunchtime finally arrived, we went over to the neighbouring Shambhala Resort, where they provided us with a delightful spread of food prepared in the traditional village style of cooking. The dishes included Daal Baati, Baingan Bharta (mashed eggplant), coriander chutney (dhaniya), Gajar ka Halwa (a sweet dish made from carrots), and even vanilla ice cream topped with pieces of freshly hand-picked strawberries.

After a hearty meal, we went on a relaxing yet adventurous walk to explore the farm. We found many different fruits and spices such as turmeric, grapefruit, and mulberry, and we even spotted a fruit fly trap hanging on a tree! The family that runs the farm, who led our little expedition, along with all of the workers there, were very welcoming and made our experience truly unique. They also had two children, Vedant and Ishaant, who were very playful and joined us throughout our time at the farm, keeping us entertained and making our day even more special.

Overall, we all really enjoyed our fantastic journey to Agrawal Farms, and we look forward to another joyous trip like this in the future!

We would like to thank our chaperones — Mrs. and Mr. Oldridge, Ms. Cynthia, Ms. Francina, and Mr. Norbu — who helped look after everyone on this trip, ensuring we all remained safe and had a pleasant time.
