At Shrewsbury India, the performing arts are an integral part of school life, offering every pupil the opportunity to discover, develop, and showcase their creative talents
Whether through music, singing, or drama, pupils are encouraged to explore and express themselves within a vibrant and supportive environment.
The majority of our pupils take up at least one musical instrument during their time at the school, with many choosing to learn more. Our ensemble programme encompasses a broad range of styles—from classical and jazz to rock and contemporary—enabling pupils to collaborate and grow as performers. Vocalists also benefit from numerous performance opportunities, both within the school and in the wider community.
Musical theatre holds a prominent place in our cultural calendar. Pupils are encouraged to audition for our regular productions, which combine singing, acting, and stagecraft in exciting and memorable performances. These productions not only highlight individual talent but also foster teamwork and confidence.
Every new pupil is offered a trial lesson on the instrument of their choice, encouraging exploration and engagement with music from the outset, regardless of previous experience. For experienced and passionate musicians, we offer dedicated music scholarships to support and further their artistic development.
We are proud to be an official Trinity College London Examination Centre for both music and dramatics, making Shrewsbury India one of the few schools in the region to offer this prestigious certification. All pupils who participate in lessons are eligible to receive internationally recognised qualifications.
Our drama programme is equally dynamic, designed to inspire creativity and build self-assurance. From speech and drama lessons to full-scale theatrical productions, pupils are encouraged to explore storytelling, character, and performance in various forms. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, every pupil is given the opportunity to engage with the dramatic arts and discover their unique voice.
At Shrewsbury India, we believe the performing arts develop far more than technical skill—they nurture imagination, confidence, collaboration, and joy.
