Mr. Dominic Tomalin
Founding Headmaster
Dominic Tomalin is the esteemed Founding Headmaster of Shrewsbury International School India, bringing with him a wealth of experience in both education and leadership. Prior to this role, he served as Principal at CATS Cambridge, one of the UK’s foremost international boarding schools.
Before embarking on his teaching career in his mid-thirties, Dominic held senior executive positions across the logistics, telecommunications, and defence sectors. He also served with distinction as an officer in the British Army’s Corps of Royal Engineers.
Educated at Pangbourne College and the University of Durham, Dominic completed his military training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the Royal School of Military Engineering. He holds a degree in Natural Sciences from Durham and has furthered his academic credentials with two master’s degrees—one in International Economics and the other in Educational Leadership. His diverse academic expertise has enabled him to teach Mathematics, Physics, Business, and Economics.
Beyond the classroom, Dominic has been a dedicated boarding housemaster and has played an active role in co-curricular and extracurricular life, leading numerous expeditions, trips, and enrichment activities.
Dominic is joined in this exciting new chapter by his wife, Clare, and their son, Henry, who will also be part of the Shrewsbury International School India community. His daughter, Zoe, studied English Literature at the University of Cambridge and now resides in London, pursuing a successful career as a television producer and writer.
